Release Notes – FileConvert
The following are feature enhancements between versions. For a complete list of changes, see the change log.
7.0.0.17
- "Input File Limit Per Run" has been replaced by a "Queue Limit for Scheduled Jobs." This sets the maximum number of files that can be in the queue at a time. When a scheduled job runs, it will stop scanning for files once the queue limit is reached. The queue limit does not apply to manual jobs.
- New setting: "Remove Log Items" purges old log information after N days to keep the log file from growing too big.
7.0.0.5
- Initial release of FileConvert 7.
- Completely updated UI.
- New ribbon-style toolbar provides easier access to features.
- PDF/A-1b support for creating archival-quality PDFs.
- Bookmark separators place a bookmark in the output PDF instead of splitting it.
- New ability to browse input/output/backup folders and job history from the main view.
- Logging is now done by job and date.
- New ability to filter the logs by date ranges or status.
- Added support for more file types.

6.6.0.2468

6.5.0.2118

6.3.0.1832
- New destination setting: split document every __ pages.
- Batch jobs can now leave files in their original locations.
6.1.0.1661
- New job source option: Batch Files. Use batch files to feed a list of files to FileConvert. FileConvert will convert the files on the list instead of looking for files.
- New setting: General > Source Folder File Limit. This limits the number of files that can be added to the queue each time the job runs. Intended to stop long folder scans.
6.0.0.1584
- FileConvert Pro Plus is now available with support for multi-threaded conversions using the Advanced OCR engine. The number of threads is currently limited to 4. Access this setting under Tools > Settings > General > Number of Concurrent Threads.
6.0.0.1562
- For in-place conversion jobs, you can now choose whether or not to delete the source files.
6.0.0.1493
- New OCR setting: Page Timeout to establish how long the OCR engine will try to process a page before giving up.
- New option for embedding OCR text: character-aligned or not character-aligned.
- During OCR, each page runs in a new process for more robustness.
- Smaller file size for searchable PDFs.
- Compressed streams and other advanced PDF features are now supported.
5.0.0.1371
- New OCR option: "Auto-Rotate Pages". If you're using the Advanced OCR engine, it can automatically turn rotated pages upright.
- New separator option if there are multiple destinations: Choose a Destination. The separator sheet shows all of the available destinations. The user puts a mark next to the destination(s) they want to use.
5.0.0.1329
- All-new conversion engine rewritten from the ground up.
- Separators are now stored in a database for easier sharing.
- New output option: parallel tree. You can place converted files in a folder tree that parallels the source tree.

- OCR now uses a rasterized page instead of extracting images, which is much safer and more reliable.
- OCR Engine is now a job preference.
- When you manually run a job, you have a chance to preview files that will be added to the queue and make changes.
- Files that have already been processed can be re-added to the queue.
- Jobs now have a Priority setting so some jobs can take precedence over others.
- Log info is now highly detailed.
- You can now restore backup files easily from the log tab.
- Added the ability to convert PDF to TIFF.
- Added "separator-only" OCR for fast processing of separators without running full OCR.

- Reduced the system resource usage dramatically, especially the RAM requirements.
- New job options to determine how line breaks are handled when converting to a TXT file.
- You can now remove files from the queue.
- You can now pause the queue (FileConvert needs to stay open for the pause to remain in effect).
