FileBackup is a simple, secure system for online file backup of your data to a remote data center. Backups are encrypted, securely transmitted across the Internet, and stored at the data center automatically according to a regular schedule. You can retrieve your files anytime. All retrieved files are restored to their original formats, settings and locations.
The Online File Backup System
The online file backup system consists of two components:
FileBackup Agent -The FileBackup Agent is a small, lightweight application that runs on your computer. It automatically runs silent online file backups like clockwork. The Agent is also the interface you use to schedule backups, see logs, and view and easily retrieve your online file backups.
Data Center – The data center is collection of large, secure data storage servers and facilities. The data center stores encrypted, redundant backups of your data 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Data Backup Security
The online file backups sent from your site to the data center are encrypted prior to transmission from your computer. To prevent unauthorized parties from gaining access to your data on the server:
- All data is secured with encryption algorithms using strong encryption, the same level of encryption that US Government agencies use to protect sensitive information. All encryption and decryption occur on your computer.
- The encrypted online file backup is sent to the data center. The data center stores the encrypted file backups without decrypting them. The files will not be decrypted until you request them and they are returned to your machine.
- At your machine, the online file backups are decrypted using your private encryption key.
- The result is a tight system where sensitive data is secured from unauthorized eyes.
Network
FileBackup will run on any PC or network with a TCP/IP connection to the Internet. Patented data reduction technologies enable even large online file backups to take place in minutes. FileBackup provides effective online file backup and recovery, even at connection bandwidths as low as 28.8 kbps (though a broadband connection is strongly recommended).
Data Center Security
