Native File Support for All File Types

FileCenter supports all Windows file types. Any kind of file can be stored in FileCenter. If Windows recognizes the file type and knows which program is associated with it, FileCenter can automatically open the file in its native application.

Open Directly from Cabinets

FileCenter can replace the Open dialog boxes of most Windows applications. This allows you to access your FileCenter cabinets directly from other applications and select files to open. Keep all of your files together in one interface without affecting your ability to access them from other programs.

This integration is enabled by default for many common applications, such as Microsoft Office, Corel Office, Open Office, web browsers, and e-mail clients. This feature is easily turned on for other applications too, or it can be disabled on an application-by-application basis or globally. You can also temporarily revert to a program's native Open dialog box on-the-fly.

Create a New Version on Open

When you open a file, you can optionally start a new version of the document. FileCenter makes an incremented copy of the original file and opens it for editing, leaving the original unaffected.

Open as a Read-Only Copy

How many times have you used a document as a model for a new file and accidentally saved over it? FileCenter lets you open files as read-only copies, ensuring that the original will never be overwritten.

Feature Highlight – Explorer Integration

Not only does FileCenter provide an Explorer View in addition to its own Cabinet View, it also integrates all of your Windows Explorer right-click menus. Many programs add nice shortcuts to Windows Explorer. All of these are available in FileCenter!
