Encrypted Files Can Still Be Opened

While FileCenter Professional's encryption is strong enough to make your files unusable, your access is unhindered. Encrypted files can still be opened, viewed, and edited in their native applications. As long as you have the file's password, you can still use the file freely.

Distribute Encrypted Files as EXEs

E-mail and thumb drives are notoriously insecure. Securely encrypting a file before sending it or taking it on the road ensures that you can control who has access to it. FileCenter Professional allows files to be shared as self-decrypting EXEs. This means that even non-FileCenter Professional users can decrypt the files just by double-clicking them and entering the password.

Secure Shredding of Sensitive Files

Many computer users fail to realize how easy it is to recover deleted files. When a file gets deleted, the body of the file remains on the computer until it eventually gets overwritten. These files can be recovered with simple undelete programs.

To guarantee that your files cannot be recovered, FileCenter Professional provides one-click secure deletion, or "file shredding". Secure deletion overwrites a file multiple times with random data before deleting it. This thwarts any undelete utility and can even prevent a file from being recovered by a deep forensic scan of your disk surface.
