Can I use FilePDF as a PDF reader?FilePDF works as a PDF reader, just like Adobe Acrobat Reader. What kinds of files can I view in FilePDF?FilePDF is designed to be an electronic document reader. It will open PDF and TIFF files. Can I delete pages from a PDF file?Yes. FilePDF will remove pages from any PDF file. Just select and delete. Can I join PDF files together?FilePDF can join any PDF files together. This is sometimes referred to as PDF stacking. FilePDF provides an excellent workspace for dropping files onto each other to combine them. Can I split a PDF file into separate files?Yes. In FilePDF, you can select pages and split them off into a new file. This is very useful for separating scans into multiple files. Can I move pages between PDF files?FilePDF has a split view for displaying two PDFs at a time. Move pages between files or rearrange them with drag-and-drop simplicity. Will FilePDF Professional support my desktop scanner?FilePDF Professional supports most TWAIN and WIA compatible scanners. Will FilePDF Professional support a network scanner?Some network scanners are TWAIN or WIA compatible; FilePDF Professional should work with these. But most network scanners are NOT compatible with FilePDF Professional. Instead, use FileConvert for network scanner support. Can I scan directly into FileCenter?If you have both FilePDF Professional and FileCenter Professional, you can scan directly into FileCenter. FilePDF will expose a Scan button on the FileCenter toolbar. In FileCenter, select the drawer or folder where you want the scan to go and click Scan. The scan will be saved directly into the current FileCenter location. See the FileCenter help for settings and customization options. How does this compare with other products on the market?FilePDF Professional performs scanning, converting, and routing functions which are normally only found in enterprise-class software. Some lower-end software products will do automatic document separation, but FilePDF Professional's automatic naming, routing and saving is without equal among competitors. What file types will FilePDF output?FilePDF Professional will produce text-searchable PDF files (which include the document's OCR text embedded invisibly behind the document image), image-only PDFs, and TIFF files. What are the minimum system requirements for FilePDF Professional?See FilePDF Professional System Requirements. What is automated scanning and how does it work?Automated scanning is FilePDF Professional's ability to receive a stack of documents and automatically separate, convert, name, and save each document without any user intervention. This might sound complex, but it is not. Anyone who can use a fax cover sheet can use this technology. Simply overlay the equivalent of a fax cover sheet between the individual documents and then scan the whole stack. The FilePDF technology takes care of the rest. The benefit of this approach is that office staff does not have to sit and baby sit a scanner, wasting time with the mind-numbing scan-save-repeat tedium. FilePDF is the only product at its price point that offers this level of functionality. What are Separators?Separators are special cover sheets for scanned documents. They have two purposes: 1) Separate multiple documents into separate files automatically. Through the use of separators, stacks of documents can be scanned and intelligently named and saved without any user intervention. When does OCR happen?OCR is tightly integrated into the scanning process. When you scan a document, OCR will happen silently. This gives you a fully-searchable PDF file with just a mouse click. Where is the OCR text?OCR text is embedded behind the text of the scan. Each word's text will be invisibly aligned right behind it. Can I still use my favorite OCR engine with FilePDF Professional?While FilePDF Professional includes its own Optical Character Recognition engine, it also integrates with a number of third-party OCR engines. This lets you choose the OCR engine that is best suited to your documents and your needs. We strongly believe in giving the customer choices and freedom. Can I use ABBYY FileReader with FilePDF Professional?Unfortunately, ABBYY's strict licensing structure prevents FilePDF from integrating with it. However, other popular OCR engines are supported.
