A Deep File Management Application That Does Many Things Well

The Lucion FileCenter is the Swiss Army Knife of file managers. It has a strong search function, a dual pane view for file movement, the ability to encrypt data as well as a full integration with remote backup hosted by a venerable backup and archival company (Iron Mountain).

Photo and Document Scanning

While it does many things well, we are selecting the FileCenter as the best scanner organizer. If you scan a lot of photos and documents and have experience with trying to scan multiple photos and having to organize them later, then FileCenter is for you. It even includes optical character recognition software, which is not useful for photo scanning, but is great for document scanning. FileCenter is the only file manager we have tested that allows you to right mouse-click a directory and initiate the scan from the directory level. This means less hunting and pecking to save your images to the correct directory.

Application Tip for FileCenter

One of our recommendations is to make sure you place the rather large index that FileCenter builds onto a separate disk rather than letting it build on your C: drive. Having an index file like this on your operating system drive will unnecessarily fragment that drive. This can be changed in the by selecting the Setting tool off the toolbar and then the Index view.
